We affirm that Christian mission includes caring for God’s earth and all Creation.

It includes acknowledging humankind’s responsibility, sharing in putting right the relationships within God’s Creation that have gone wrong, and working within the church and with partners outside the church to grow towards justice and good stewardship as envisaged in the biblical vision of the world as it is meant to be.

Aims

1. We aim to take our environmental footprint properly into account in every area of church life and will aim to review our environmental footprint and policy annually.

2. We aim to encourage all members of Jubilee family to consider their personal impact on the environment and have a more sustainable lifestyle.

3. We aim to seek to increase awareness of environmental issues in our local communities.

4. We aim to consider the environmental impact of our future plans.

5. We aim to encourage and facilitate environmental monitoring of premises and property.

6. We will encourage the development of new technologies to reduce carbon emissions.

Objectives

1. Worship, Teaching & Mission, Youth & Children’s Work: We will aim to include the importance of care for creation in our worship, teaching and mission, and our work with children and young people.

2. Environmental Champion: We will aim to appoint an Environmental Champion to lead our programme, and encourage him or her to bring relevant environmental issues and concerns forward to the Senior Leadership Team on a regular basis.

3. Eco Church: We will aim to work towards participating in the Eco Church programme.

4. Energy Audit: We will aim to undertake an environmental and energy audit of the church premises and property (Eco Toolkit).

5. Tackling our Energy Use & Carbon Footprint: We will aim to seek to reduce our energy use and our greenhouse gas emissions in church premises.

6. We will aim to celebrate/ focus on creation as a church once annually to help us grow not only in praise of our creator but also in self-understanding of our stewardship. Delighting in God and delighting in God’s creation, which brings us fully alive as men and women

7. We aim to ensure that church-owned land is used in ways that encourage an enjoyment of nature and both enhance and protect the environment.
