What's onUpcoming events at Jubilee Church Wirral
Join us at Jubilee as we celebrate Jesus’ victory over death at Easter.
As you would expect, our Easter Sunday meeting on March 31st will be a little bit different to our usual meetings.
We will be having baptisms (there’s more on that below) and there is sure to be even more of a celebratory atmosphere than usual as we remember Jesus’ resurrection on the first Easter Sunday more than 2000 years ago.
As you’ll know if you’ve been to Jubilee before, we’re a friendly, welcoming mix of ages, races and sexes and we can guarantee you’ll be given a warm welcome as soon as you walk through the door. You’ll almost certainly be offered a tea, coffee and a biscuit or two after the meeting too!
This week we won’t be running Trailblazers and Firestarters, our youth groups for our secondary school-age young people, but we will be running youth groups for our younger members:
Sparks: Crêche for ages 0-4
Flames: School years Reception to year 6
When and where?
Our Sunday morning celebrations start at 10.30am and end at approximately 12noon, although we serve tea and coffee afterwards.
We meet at the Jubilee Centre on Hose Side Road, Wallasey, next to the Captain’s Pit and opposite Elleray Park.
What is baptism all about?
At Jubilee, we baptise people who are believers – those who have made a confession of faith.
Baptism isn’t about being perfect – but being baptised is being obedient. When he preached on the day of Pentecost, Peter said “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
We believe that baptism is a response to our repentance and that God then opens our life. It is about obedience. There’s nothing special about the water.
We also baptise by immersion, because we believe it represents is as you go down into the water, you are being recognised with Jesus’ death, and as you are raised back up you are coming into your new life raised in Christ. That’s what we do and why we do it.
