Jubilee during Covid

Jubilee during Covid

church is changing
but it hasn't gone away.

Jubilee Church Wirral is a church which is passionate about following Jesus and helping God to change lives all over the Wirral.

Due to Covid-19, we have had to change the way we do things – but we are still here to welcome new members, support our people and play an active role in the community.

On this page you will find how Jubilee is facing the challenges of pandemic guidelines while still continuing to be a force for good in Wallasey, Wirral and beyond.

You will also find details of how you can stay in touch and worship with us as a church during this most difficult of times, how you can ask us for help, and – if you are in a position to do so – how you can offer help.

In Acts 8:5, as the church scatters after the persecution in Jerusalem, Philip, Peter and John keep preaching the word and spreading the gospel of Christ – and this is what we intend to do at Jubilee. Read the full passage here.

sunday morning meetings

Although the current government guidelines permit us to continue meeting as a church, Jubilee Church Wirral has made the decision not to gather together at the Jubilee Centre for the time being.

As a community-minded church we felt we needed to act to help contain this current strain of the virus.

Accordingly, from Sunday 17th January we will provide a pre-recorded service on our YouTube channel at 10.30am on Sunday, and will continue to do that through January.

We will review the situation regularly and we would urge you all to do whatever you can to protect yourselves and your family and friends from coronavirus.

We will continue to host Life Groups Together and prayer meetings on Zoom each month and we would encourage you to engage with those if you can. We realise this is a difficult time and we are praying for you all, particularly those who have family members who are unwell.

youth groups on sundays

We have made the decision not to gather together at the Jubilee Centre for the time being, but we are still determined to meet with our young people as much as possible – online.

The Sunday night Zoom meetings for our Trailblazers (school years 10-13) and Firestarters (school years 7-9), which we have been holding on alternate Sundays for some time now, will now be held every Sunday from 7.30pm until further notice.

One of our senior youth leaders has been taking us through the book of James and will continue to do so until the end of February half term (Sunday February 21).

The Zoom meetings are more than Bible study, though; they’re a great time to meet – albeit virtually – with other members of our youth groups for chat, fun, games and prayer. Our young people certainly seem to enjoy them!

To receive a Zoom invite to our Trailblazers/Firestarters Zoom meetings, email our Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry Danielle Wynn at danielle@jubileechurchwirral.org.uk.

For our Flames youngsters (school years 1-6), we will provide new weekly videos each Sunday on our YouTube channel as part of our weekly online service.

Details about our youth groups can be found here.

THE GOOD NEIGHBOUR PROJECT

The Good Neighbour Project was set up in March in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, when many people were having to self isolate.

It continues now, with Jubilee Church Wirral volunteers reaching out to offer members of our community they help they need. We can do shopping and make phone calls to anyone in need of simply wanting a friendly phone call or prayer.

If you or someone you know would benefit from the Good Neighbour Project please call or text 07707 06192 and we will do our best to help. The helpline is open from 8am until 8pm every day.

You can also email us on help@jubileechurchwirral.org.uk or using the form below.

If you would like to volunteer with The Good Neighbour Project, call or text us on the same number and we’ll be in touch.

life groups together

Before COVID-19, our Life Groups met on different nights throughout the week in our Life Group leaders' homes, with meetings in Upton, New Brighton, Saughall Massie and Arrowe Park.

As we are presently unable to hold Life Groups due to government guidelines, we have launched "Life Groups Together",  an online Zoom meeting every other Wednesday from 8pm to give all our church members the opportunity to support each other and ask for prayer during this most testing of times.

Our Life Groups meet on alternate Wednesdays from January 6 (January 20, February 3, February 17, March 3, March 17).

Our Life Groups Together meetings are open to anybody who would like to see some friendly faces, and join a small community of believers who can love, encourage, provoke, support and believe in them.

We also hold regular prayer meetings over Zoom. To receive an invite to our next Life Groups Together or Prayer meeting, email rick@jubileechurchwirral.org.uk
