Matthew shared with on us Sunday the story of the sinful woman who anoints Jesus feet at Simon the Pharisee’s house. He powerfully looked at the contrast between how the two approached Jesus and how our own lives can relate to the story, the challenge is how do we approach Jesus honestly ourselves and what do we think of how others approach him?
Matthew brilliantly unpacks this passage in Ephesians 5; showing we have a new identity that we can choose to walk in. He gives us four keys of what it really means to walk in the Spirit and see the kingdom of God bursts into (and out of) our lives. Matthew leads us through this passage as a condemned Joshua finds himself having an amazing encounter with God’s grace. We learn how and why this grace extends to us, as well as how we can learn to live in the permanence of our new standing before God.
